If you've ever searched for a raid or Mythic Plus group in WoW's official group search tool, you've probably stumbled across them several times. This refers to the advertisements for one of the now countless boost groups, which many players find extremely annoying. For only gold (or even euros), these groups pull you through high keystones, help you through the current raid or bring you to a certain PvP rating. Some days, it almost seems like the group search tool is at least half made up of such offers. This is despite the fact that Blizzard has banned the advertising of such services via the in-game tool for quite some time. Now the developers have taken another step with a hotfix to make life as difficult as possible for boost groups and their advertising.

  • From now on, only characters at maximum level are allowed to use the in-game tool for current raids and Mytisch-Plus dungeons.

Those who have not reached maximum level can only advertise for old or level content. This eliminates ad requests, at least in the areas where players are most likely to search for a group. Of course, not all adverts will be removed. But at least a large part. Because often only chars are created on other servers in order to advertise with them.

Or entire accounts are created in order to advertise with them, since these are permanently subject to the danger of a permanent ban. In this case, the advertisers must now either play up a character or shift to other areas of advertising.
