Last night, the gates of Zul'Gurub opened for the first time in WoW Classic, and we were right in the middle of it! This is to be understood quite literally, because in the Stranglethorn Valley at midnight so many players were cavorting that every Corona virus (or the Corrupted Blood) would have had its bright joy. The servers obviously had less fun, because they struggled with the load: Lags, freezes and disconnections were the order of the day last night. And since the instance servers were also overloaded, it took over an hour before all 20 players of the raid were finally in Zul'Gurub and we could finally get started.
Start of Classic Phase 4: There was a lot of activity in Stranglethorn Valley last night.

We quickly realized that we had already mastered the biggest challenge of the evening. The raid's enemies themselves were no problem. Due to the high damage, we didn't even need to pay attention to many mechanics, our six healers were mostly bored and it only got exciting when we opened the local Enchanted Hoodoo piles.
Most guilds probably took a similarly chilled view of Zul'Gurub as we did. However, there were raids eager for an achievement that not a single guild in vanilla WoW could master at the time: Sending end boss Hakkar to nirvana with five living priests. For each of the priests, Hakkar then has an extra ability. With all five additional attacks, he is a great danger even for enormously well-equipped tanks.
In fact, it was only a short time before the US guild BLaDE of KiLL was able to secure this world-first kill in Classic (via Wowhead). The reasons for this: 1) You can get through to Hakkar very quickly, the kill itself took only 1 minute and 21 seconds. 2) The guild had already practiced this fight several times on the public test server, so the players knew exactly what to expect. 3) Of course, the guild's players were loaded up to the ceiling with buffs and consumables. In addition, there were three tanks equipped with Thunder Fury and a large focus on offensive warriors to provide the necessary burst damage. You can watch the kill here:
