In World of Warcraft Classic, the Valley of Trials in southern Durotar is the starting area of both the Orcs and the Darkspear Trolls, as the latter were only given their own zone after the Cataclysm with the Echo Isles at Sen'jin Village. What was once a small network of natural caves in the cliffs to the north has recently been inhabited by foul demons of the Burning Blade. Though the demons there are relatively weak and harmless, the are beginning to spread rapidly through the valley. Furthermore, the presence of the demons suggests that rumors of the Shadow Council gaining a foothold in the region may be true. At the time of the Cataclysm, therefore, the darkspear trolls moved on to the recently liberated Echo Isles. Wildlife in the area includes poisonous scorpids and wild boars. While most of them are fairly harmless, one particularly nasty scorpid named Sarkoth is causing trouble.
New orcs and darkspear trolls spend their first levels (usually 1 to 5) in this area before being released into the main Durotar area outside the protective valley. The dozen or so starting quests have also been completely overhauled with the Cataclysm expansion, removing anything that feels "grindy" in favor of a more compact, cohesive starting experience. In the following gallery, you can see our Troll Shaman - after a brief introduction of his skills and stats - completing all of the original quests and the first class quest (in German) until he moves on to Sen'jin at level 5. Have fun!
