Recently, more and more transmog rules have been relaxed in WoW. Thus, we can now hide almost all armor items, transform weapons into a variety of other weapon types, and even use legendary weapons for transmogging. Legion artifact weapons are still under some restrictions so far, though. In the course of the WoW Shadowlands Summit, lead game designer Morgan Day spoke in
aninterview with MrGM about the
factthat transmogging of artifact weapons is at least
being
considered class-wide for Shadowlands.
Hunters could then, for example, also wield the artifact bow Thas'dorah, heirloom of House WIndläufer, as a Beastmaster, although this is currently only permitted to the Marksmanship playstyle. This change is not yet 100% confirmed, however, as there are a few small but subtle details to clarify with the new transmog rule.
03:58For example, the Protection Paladin can theoretically go into battle with a two-handed weapon, but does that allow him to mog him as a tank at the same time? This shouldn't really be possible, since he can use the two-handed weapon, but can't perform most of the protection abilities with it at all.
Also, with the hunter, there is the question of what it looks like when Beastmaster and Marksmanship Raiders transmogrify the melee weapon of the survival playstyle. The animation for ranged attacks with melee weapons would be possible in the game, but a character shooting arrows from his spear would look very strange. Conversely, a survival hunter thrashing enemies with a bow would look just as absurd.
